Ba Ria-Vung Tau (Vietnamese: Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu) [1] is a province in Southeastern Vietnam. Located 120km southeast of Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria-Vung Tau is known for weekend short trips and an ideal destination for seaside tours. It also include Côn Đảo islands, some distance off Vietnam's southeastern coast.

Ba Ria-Vung Tau province was founded on August 12th 1991, belonging to the South East with the border length of 162km on the mainland. It is the smallest province by area among Southeastern provinces.

- Hoa (Chinese): 1.73%.

The provincial topography includes mountains, hills, small deltas, and sand banks along the seashore. The two districts of Long Dat and Xuyen Moc are delta and mountain areas along the sea.
Ba Ria-Vung Tau has a tropical climate: a rainy season with a southwest monsoon from May to October, a dry season with a northeast monsoon from November to April of the following year. Annual average temperature is 27C, with little storm wind and a lot of sunshine.

Ba Ria–Vung Tau with its special location is a gateway for the southeast provinces direct to East sea with strategical mean of international seaway, seaport system where is approaching with South-east Asian nations. The natural resources are very rich and various with potential prospects to develop sea economy quickly, such as oil, seaports and shipping lines, seafood, tourism, and conditions to develop transport: road, seaway, railway, and airway, which would promote commerce and investment co-operation with foreign countries.

Vietnamese, spoken by most of the population. It is written in Latin alphabet plus the five diacritical marks. Many young people have a basic grasp of English, especially in bigger towns. Russian is also spoken by about 1,250 Russians in Vung Tau and some older Vietnamese working for the oil industry.
