Askim

Askim is a municipality in the county of Østfold, Norway. Askim centre has 12570 inhabitants (2006). It lies next to the longest river in Norway, Glomma, and has always been a strategic point in wars due to its bridges across the river. It is situated about 50 kilometres southeast of Oslo.

You can get there by motorway, by taking the European route E18 or train from Oslo.

The centre of Askim is very small and you can easily get around by your feet. I you want to get out of the centre, you may walk or take a local bus.

Askim has three hydropower stations at Solbergfoss, Kykkelsrud and Vamma.
