From Stockton: Take I-5 or State Route 99 toward Sacramento and exit on Eight Mile Road, north of Stockton. Drive east to the junction of Eight Mile and State Route 88, turn left (north). Just a mile east of Clements, take the SR 88 split north (left).

From Sacramento: Take the exit for Jackson Highway (Highway 16) all the way to SR-49.

From South Lake Tahoe: Take Route 89 until it intersects Highway 88. Turn right onto Highway 88 and follow it all the way down to Jackson. Amador County line is right before the Kirkwood Ski Resort.

The primary means of transportation in Amador is through the use of motorized vehicles.

Public Transit in AmadorCounty is provided by a single operator, Amador Transit. Amador Transit is overseen by the ACTC and provides general public deviated fixed route service as well as its Dial-a-Ride service within the unincorporated areas of Amador County and the five incorporated cities. It also provides regional service to Sacramento County. Amador Transit operates a fleet of 13 buses and 1 van providing daily service for six routes Monday through Friday between the hours of 5:40AM and 6:30PM not including holidays. Other transportation services and agencies within the county include:

-Pioneer Cab Company, Delta-Sierra Cab Co., Gold Rush Taxi. -Calaveras Transit stops three times a day at Raley's in Amador County as part of their linked service with Amador Transit. -Blue Mountain Transit (private van service with charter service to ARC, Community Compass Program, and others). -STARS provides services to cancer patients -New Beginnings provides services to people visiting Mule Creek Prison
