Alstonville is a city in Northern Rivers.

Alstonville, together with its nearby sister town of Wollongbar comprise the Plateau region of the Ballina Shire. They are, in essence suburbs of Ballina.

The Bruxner Highway links Alstonville with both Ballina and Lismore. Numerous other local roads link the town with other localaties in the district.

Alstonville is small enough that it can be walked fairly easily. Public Transport consists of one bus route through the highway that runs infrequently.

Alstonville Plaza provides most locals with the basics, including a small hardware shop, discount variety store, fresh fruit and vegetable store and small book shop.

There are 2 take away hot food shops, one in the Plaza, one in the Main Street. Somewhat more upmarket are Bunga Raya Chinese Restraunt, the Lao Thai restraunt, both located on Main Street, or the Chinese Buffet in the Alstonville Bowling Club. The Federal Hotel also offers some meals.

Federal Hotel is the main watering hole in town, the Alstonville Bowling Club also has a bar. The Federal Hotel often has live music on in the beer garden.
