Chora (Greece)

Chora (χωρα) is set high on the hill on the island of Alonissos and enjoys a feeling of peacefulness with breathtaking sea-views. Located on the quietest of the Sporades islands and about 2km from the island’s port, Patitiri, it is relatively unspoilt by tourism.

The temperature is slightly cooler due to its hillside location. In the height of summer the days are long and hot, in spring and Autumn you will need little more than a cardigan to keep away the cool morning and evening breezes and winters are generally mild.

You will arrive on the island by boat from either Skiathos or Athens and you will need to pick up a taxi to get to Chora.

You will enjoy spending time wandering the steep, white-washed cobbled streets of Chora with its many tavernas, bars and small selection of charming shops.

In high season you can take a bus from Chora to the port.

You will find a wonderful selection of traditional tavernas, a piano bar and a number of souvlaki restaurants in the village of Chora. People often travel from other areas of the island to enjoy a moonlit romantic evening.
