Ahal Province is the central region of Turkmenistan, home to the capital, Ashgabat. Cities Anau Ashgabat — the country's largest city and national capital, home to an array of bizarre, enormous monuments and palatial buildings constructed by the late megalomaniacal dicator, Saparmurat Niyazov.
