The road going up to Agios-Stéfanos has lots of turns but is breathtaking beautiful. For the scary cats you can take the other road that go's by Pefki village first. As pefki is only 2 km away from Agios-Stéfanos on the same high.
In Agios-Stéfanos you will find an old ruin of a castle, there is not a lot standing there but the pictures you can take are very beautiful. There are plenty of old donkey trails that you can follow up in the mountains. As you do that you will find lots of wild life. There is also an Observatory that you can visit. This is the only observatory on Crete that is open to the public. Open every evening and day as they have also sun-scopes. You will find the observatory on the rim of the village along the main road. On the square of the village you will find a few caffeneons but also there is an other little square tokt away in the village a little higher up. This cafeneon is only open after 5 in the afternoon.
