Swidnica is a town in Dolnoslaskie Vovoidship - Poland. The Peace Church of Swidnica is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. [edit] Get in[edit] By planeThere is an international airport in the near town of Wroclaw. [edit] By trainThe Polish State Railways [1] has train connections from Wroclaw but since 1997 the connection to Swidnica (In fact anything via) has been halted. Trying to find the closest neighbouring station is not feasible as you can get a private or public bus much cheaper. Ther has been talk about a private rail bus to connect Wroclaw and Swidnica for years. [edit] By carYou can easily get there by car from Wroclaw and Jelenia Gora. [edit] By busFrom Wroclaw Intl you can get the airport transfer bus that will take you to "PKP" (Polish Rail Network). Walk through the PKP tunnel, cross the road and you will walk up the stair straight into the Main Bus station. You can wait for the PKS buses on Platform 1 (really old public buses) which are cheaper but take about and hour to arrive to Swidnica. On Platform 2 (Counting from the main building) You will most certainly spot several private buses signed Swiebodzice / Walbrzych that cost slightly more but will get you into Swidnica within 30 minutes. Many international connections (see Poland::By bus). [edit] Get around[edit][add listing] SeeThe Peace Church (Ksciol Pokojowe) is on the UNESCO World Heritage List- dating from the 1600's and built out of unusual materials (wood and hay), it resembles a theatre or opera house more than a church. Covered top to bottom in beautiful, old, folk-art-style paintings, the Peace Church is absolutely worth a visit. Behind the Peace Church is an old German cememtery which as of July 2008 was completely overgrown, giving it a creepy atmosphere and making it a great destination for photographers and seekers of the arcane. [edit][add listing] DoAttend the summer Bach Festival in July. Concerts are held in the Church of Peace and other venues in the town. For further details go to www.bach-cantatas.com and follow the links through 'schedule of concerts' and 'Bach festivals'.
