By plane[edit]

Many passengers also choose Katowice Airport (KTW). It's the airport situated 100 kilometres northeast of Żywiec, but the way leads all via a motorway and two-lane roads and by car it takes about 90 minutes to get from the airport to Żywiec via S1/DK1/S69 roads. The airport has direct connections with over 30 destinations across Europe and Asia. The airport is a base of [Wizzair] and has strong network of Wizzair flights:

Domestic:

  • LOT Polish Airlines (Warsaw)

International:

Seasonal: Bourgas, Grenoble There is a plenty of car rentals at the airport including Avis, Budget or the private of the airport called GTL LOT Car Rental.

When travelling from the airport take the S1 Express Road heading Katowice, then go via S1 to Tychy. In Tychy drive DK1 (don't change any road, it's just the change in nomenclature!) to Bielsko-Biala. If travelling by car from Katowice take the motorway to Bielsko-Biala and then follow signs south to Zywiec. The road from Bielsko-Biala to Zywiec however is single-carriageway and good views can be had of the surrounding countryside.

The town is also accessible by coach and train from Katowice, the nearest major city. The train fare from Katowice should be about 13/14zl and the journey should take about two hours. The town is also served by the Warsaw-Budapest line, with one train a day going in each direction.

Get around[edit]

The town is not particularly big and the historic centre itself is certainly walkable, but a ticket for the town bus service, covering all parts of the town can be bought for 2zl.
