[bearbeiten] Vrienden op de Fiets

> AdsonLE What's wrong with my additional information about 'Vrienden op de Fiets'? It's not commercial, it's low budget, it's an alternative way of travelling, it helps foreigners to learn more about a country out of the tourist trap world. I'm not referring to any particular addresses, as you do. And a German friend helped me with putting it all into 1 fine German phrase. Regards, Wikiganda

There are two major problems with this website: It is no official website of a hotel, council or a government organisation but an (online) hotel-guide. Furthermore it is necessary to register and pay a fee to get the information about adresses, as far as I see it. Our regulation here at Wikitravel states, that weblinks to such websites (or secondary sources in general) should not be included in our articles, see Wikitravel:Weblinks or the English version. I'm sorry about that, because I do not doubt the website can offer good alternatives to normal/expensive hotels, but it violates our regulation, therefore we have to delete it. Albion 16:03, 13. Thanks for your information. I wouldn't call it an (online) hotelguide but the introduction page of an organisation of volunteers. 'Vrienden op de Fiets' does exist for about 25 or 30 years. It's origins should be placed in the alternative Holland seventies. Every year, there's a booklet with all the addresses of families where cyclists are welcome. Compare it with Warmshowers but a bit more regulated and with less uncertainties as your membership can be cancelled. The admission fee pays itself back after already 1 or 2 nights. Be honest, 17 euro for 1 night for 1 person travelling alone, a price you can only find in youth hostels, and there you don't have your own private room. Call it a kind of mutual cyclist charity.
I could mention the adresses themselves on wikipedia, but then I would violate the privacy of the families and the rules of Vrienden op de Fiets. So, I'm blocked. Vrienden op de Fiets is quite well known in the Netherlands. But outside, cycling people don't know it and do only discover this way of travelling by accident.
What happens if I put the information WITHOUT a link ?
Regards, Wikiganda
I understand the problem. I will discuss this issue with the other administrators, maybe they know a way, how to get the weblink or informationen about 'Vrienden op de Fiets' in the article correctly. Maybe we can make an exception to our general rules in this case, but I can't decide that on my own. I will tell you, when I know more. Albion 22:14, 13. Sep. 2007 (CEST)
Thanx for replying. Wikiganda
(My english isn't very good, but i will answer you in this language.) I think, the short sentence about "frienden op de fiets" can make a missunderstanding and trouble with our rules in the future. In my opinion, the better way is a little longer description of "frienden op de fiets" with background information, the way to get the adresses with the admission fee, and so forth. In this case, with weblink, too.
You can write your own text. If you have any problems with german, I wrote this one:
Please, please, don't add your information on any site of any town in Netherlands or Belgium. A few entries are ok (I think), mayby under "activities / Aktivitäten" or "Sleep / Unterkunft". AdsonLE 19:39, 15. Sep. 2007 (CEST)

Ok. These rules are clear and I will follow them. Thank you for translating. Wikiganda
